The safety of processes in the food industry, brand reputation and consumer safety discussion
Professionals from 24 companies in the industry came together on 18 November with a common aim: to attend a workshop where they could discuss the importance today of implementing and maintaining a food safety system: BRC, IFS and ISO 22000 FSSC.
Alfonso Herrero Lanao, Head of Food and Agriculture Certification at Aenor-Catalonia, was asked to open the topics for discussion. During his presentation, Herrero mainly dealt with the new legal standards, making an in-depth reflection on the history of safety, legislation and classification of materials according to current standards. Additionally, the tendency to demand more stringent requirements and to have standards for each area was confirmed, highlighting the need to be more efficient at the lowest possible cost while ensuring safety and quality at all times.
After him, the FUCHS Group's Food-Grade Lubricants Product Manager, Raúl Colombo, began his presentation with an introduction to the certifications held by the CASSIDA brand of food-grade lubricants. Among the subjects covered, Colombo highlighted the differences in the formulation process between food-grade and non-food grade industrial lubricant, emphasizing the "need to produce without allergens and without MOAH molecules, having at all times NSF or INS certification for theoretical formula as well as ISO 21469 certification for the production plant".
For his part, Ismael Cabaco, Head of Lubritec Services, went into detail on the necessary steps for implementing food safety and quality measures in the development of a production plant lubrication plan. After the various presentations, the attendees were able to enjoy a talk in which they discussed the subjects covered and exchanged opinions, such as the widespread need to continue working on the new requirements of food safety standards. In addition, it became clear how efficient lubrication management can help achieve productivity and cost-reduction targets by ensuring proper compliance with such standards.
The event was held at the production plant of the prestigious brewery Damm, located in El Prat, Barcelona.
