REBRANDING of MAINTAIN to TITAN

We have two main topics today which we want to share with you.

      1. Restructuring the Service Fluids into the TITAN Brand

As FUCHS we strive to ensure the maximum level of service and performance to our customer for “Being First Choice”.

One strategic pillar of reaching this vision is “Global Strength” with the objectives to “Further refine the brand profile, strengthen brand equity and attractiveness”. Therefore, the decision was made to discontinue MAINTAIN as a Lead Brand of FUCHS and include the service fluids (coolants, brake fluids, fuel additives and other car care products) into the much more valuable and visible Lead Brand TITAN.

Nomenclature of products depends on the category

Our coolant range will still follow the same nomenclature as before, with the brand (TITAN) followed by FRICOFIN and a product specific code:

MAINTAIN FRICOFIN xxx    >>> TITAN FRICOFIN xxx

The brake fluids range will also follow its current nomenclature with the brand (TITAN) followed by DOT and a product specific code:

MAINTAIN DOT xxx              >>> TITAN DOT xxx

     2. Significant changes in the range of coolants

A) Changes in EU classification and labelling

As FUCHS we strive to ensure the maximum level of safety for our customers using our products. FUCHS applies risk management as a part of our daily work. This is to inform you on regulatory changes and the coolants affected by them.

Due to the following regulatory changes, some of our MAINTAIN FRICOFIN Range are affected with regards to the concentration of one of the components in the fluid. It is now classified above the updated generic concentration limit.

Products containing more than ≥ 0,3 % 2-ethlyhexanoic acid (2-EHA) or its salts need to be reclassified to Repr. 1B. This is a tremendous change and connected to the hazard statement H360D “May damage the unborn child.” This reclassification is legally binding from December 1st, 2023.

Products affected by regulatory change:

The following products and thein ready to use mixes will be affected by this regulatory change because they contain ≥ 0,3% 2-EHA or its salts.

As MAINTAIN FRICOFIN FP doesn’t hold any official approvals we will change the formulation to a 2-EHA free option compatible to the actual formulation with no change in performance.

Due to the enormous impact on our portfolio, we had to introduce new products with the latest state of technology – see the second part below.

B) Introduction of new products in the group of coolants

TITAN FRICOFIN PS

Multifunctional coolant based on PSi-OAT Technology

TITAN FRICOFIN PS is based on the latest organic additive technology combined with phosphate and silicate (PSi-OAT). Its focus is mainly on passenger cars but also suitable for some heavy-duty applications. For most applications it is an excellent substitution for our former MAINTAIN FRICOFIN and other coolants based on Hybrid- Technology. The colour will be green and recommended for the latest BMW specification. TITAN FRICOFIN PS is suitable for many hybrid and E-mobility applications and will be part of our BluEV Technology portfolio.

The use of TITAN FRICOFIN PS provides the following advantages:

• Excellent fast-reacting protection against deposits, cavitation and corrosion in engines and cooling systems
• Superior protection against freezing and overheating
• Compatible with seals, plastics and non-ferrous metals
• Contains bittering agent to prevent swallowing
• Suitable for extended drain intervals
• Contains a special additive to compensate for flux contamination from the CAB (Controlled Atmosphere Brazing) process.

TITAN FRICOFIN EVO

Multifunctional coolant based on PSi-OAT Technology

MAINTAIN FRICOFIN EVO is a multifunctional coolant with several fields of application depending on the OEM requirements. The BluEV Technology label on our coolants confirms the excellent heat rejection from internal combustion engines in hybrid vehicles, but also from indirect cooling of the electric motor and battery.

TITAN FRICOIN EVO is a coolant based on ethylenglycol and a state-of-the-art silicate inhibitor technology, combined with phosphate and an organic basis (PSi-OAT), that offers outstanding corrosion protection.

TITAN FRICOFIN EVO meets the latest, challenging requirements of modern engines of the Volkswagen Group. TITAN FRICOFIN EVO is officially approved by Volkswagen for their VW TL 774-L (G12EVO) It is characterized by an outstanding protection of the engine and protects the individual components from corrosion and wear. TITAN FRICOFIN EVO offers excellent hardwater and oxidation stability.

TITAN FRICOFIN EVO also covers the latest BMW specification (BMW LC-18) and because of the backwards compatibility it is compatible with previous specifications LC-97 and the LC-87 (previously coverd by TITAN FRICOFIN). Furthermore TITAN FRICOFIN EVO can be used in applications requiring the VOLVO CARS specification TR-31854114-002.

Since the product is characterized by an excellent quality and performance it is also suitable for use in stationary engines requiring the MWM TR 2091. TITAN FRICOFIN EVO also fulfils heavy-duty requirements by also meeting the DEUTZ DQC CC-14 standard.

The use of TITAN FRICOFIN EVO provides the following advantages:

• Officially approved according to VW TL 774-L (G12EVO)
• Excellent long-lasting protection against deposits, cavitation and corrosion in engines and coolers.
• Superior protection against freezing and overheating.
• Compatible with seals, plastics and nonferrous metals.
• Contains bittering agent to prevent swallowing.
• Suitable also for hybrid and electric vehicles according to the OEM requirements.
• Available in full range of packaging - from 1 l to 1000 l.

TITAN FRICOFIN LD

Multifunctional coolant based on X-OAT Technology

TITAN FRICOFIN LD is a coolant based on ethylenglycol and a state-of-the-art organic inhibitor technology (OAT) combined with a very low concentration of inorganic inhibitors (X) to reach superior performance. The focus of TITAN FRICOFIN LD (= Long Drain) is on heavy-duty applications and applications requiring OAT coolants.

Additionally, it has a great performance for passenger cars as well. TITAN FRICOFIN LD covers most of the profile of MAINTAIN FRICOFIN LL and is an excellent substitution of it.

TITAN FRICOFIN LD is recommended for a wide range of applications and is characterized by excellent oxidation stability and can withstand high temperatures. Due to its unique inhibitor design it has long-lasting protection and is suitable for longest change intervals, as for example, in the application at Volvo of up to 500,000 km.

It has an excellent protection, especially of the newest high-tech engines, for example the latest engines used in vehicles from Volvo Truck where the VOLVO VCS-2 is required. Additionally, TITAN FRICOFIN LD fulfills the ASTM D 6210 and passed the ASTM D 7583 with an excellent result.

Besides the excellent aluminum protection which is needed for modern engines it is designed to have excedent protection on cast iron and the combination of the two metals as well as engines using aluminum or copper alloys.

This superb protection is reflected in the performance profile.

Furthermore, TITAN FRICOFIN LD is an excellent choice for mining and construction vehicles as we can recommend it for Caterpillar, Kobelco, Komatsu and several other important manufactures.

As it is an excellent all-round performing coolant with excellent corrosion protection, antifreeze properties and boil protection it is also suitable for use in various gas engine applications such as for example the CAT G20CM34.

TITAN FRICOFIN LD will also be available as a ready to use mix named as TITAN FRICOFIN LD 50.

The use of TITAN FRICOFIN LD provides the following advantages:

• Fulfills the requirements of Volvo VCS-2.
• Suitable for longest drain intervals.
• Excellent long-lasting protection against deposits, cavitation and corrosion in engines and coolers.
• Superior protection against freezing and overheating.
• Compatible with seals, plastics and nonferrous metals.
• Contains bittering agent to prevent swallowing.
• TITAN FRICOFIN LD is available in full range of packaging - from 1 l to 1000 l.
• TITAN FRICOFIN LD 50 is available in three packagings - 5 l, 205 l, 1000 l.
