FUCHS Presents Innovative Solutions at TMC2023

15.07.2023 - 04:05

The 15th Automotive Powertrain Technology Congress (TMC2023) was held in Qingdao from July 13 to 14. The conference, organized by the China Society of Automotive Engineers and the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, represents the most influential platform for exchanging views on electric powertrain technology in China. The event attracted many leaders, executives, and experts from the new energy industry, who had a discussion on innovative technologies and strategies for electric and intelligent powertrain systems. It has provided great opportunities for technical exchanges and potential cooperation among the participants.

As a key player in the powertrain field, FUCHS China came under the spotlight at TMC for presenting innovative technologies and outstanding products. The keynote speeches, delivered by Dr. Zhao Yunhui, Senior Chemist of R&D and Dr. Shi Yi, Senior Manager of R&D at FUCHS China, provided a glimpse into FUCHS BluEV innovative solutions for wet drive lubricants for commercial new energy vehicles as well as long-life greases for high-speed motor bearings.

FUCHS BluEV wet drive lubricants for heavy-duty commercial vehicles

As a key powertrain system of new energy vehicles, drive axles are getting more miniaturized/lightweight, integrated, efficient and reliable, posing higher requirements for the speed, power density, and torque density of motors, especially their cooling solutions. For drive axles of passenger vehicles, oil cooling has become the mainstream motor cooling solution. For drive axles of commercial vehicles, although water cooling is still the primary motor cooling solution, oil cooling is a widely recognized trend in the industry.

There are more scenarios where commercial vehicles are used at low speed and high torque. The need to give equal attention to motor cooling and gearbox shaft protection leads to further requirements for lubricants. As a response, FUCHS has launched the innovative FUCHS BluEV wet drive lubricants for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. These solutions address the pain points in the current wet drive lubrication systems for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, achieving an optimal balance in cooling performance, load-bearing capacity, material compatibility, copper protection, foam resistance, and long service life.

FUCHS BluEV EMG SP 2 innovative long-life grease for high-speed motor bearings

As the motors of new energy vehicles are increasingly designed for higher speeds, the importance of lubrication for bearing life is becoming ever apparent. In response to this demand, FUCHS has introduced FUCHS BluEV EMG SP 2 grease. The grease is fully synthetic, resistant to high temperatures, high speeds and corrosion (electricity), causes low noise, and has low volatility and a long life. It remains stable under high temperatures, and offers excellent lubrication across a wide range of temperatures, making it a perfect choice for long-term lubrication of high-speed motor bearings.

In addition, FUCHS showcased leading technologies for a biodegradable thermal management fluid and provided information on the fluid. The product is compliant to OECD biodegradation requirements, and prevents the thermal spread of battery pack cells that enables extreme temperature uniformity of the battery pack, helping to extend the battery pack life and efficiency. Due to its ultra-long life and excellent material compatibility, the grease meets the full lifecycle requirements of the battery pack. This innovative product is suitable for power batteries, DC fast chargers, battery energy storage systems, power devices and other applications, providing strong support for the reliability and performance of new energy vehicles.

As an industry leader, FUCHS will continue to promote technological innovation, and provide more reliable and efficient lubrication solutions for future mobility, facilitating sustainable development of the industry.
