FUCHS LUBRICANTS GERMANY awards special prizes at the regional “Jugend forscht” competition in Kaiserslautern

At the regional “Jugend forscht” competition in Kaiserslautern - one of the most prestigious competitions for young talent in the STEM field - 51 young talents had the opportunity to present their innovative projects to a panel of experts.
 

FUCHS LUBRICANTS GERMANY was delighted to support the competition and awarded a total of four special prizes for the most creative work in the field of chemistry. With this award, we would like to encourage young talents to pursue their curiosity and enthusiasm for chemical research and development.

One of these four special prizes went to a particularly young participant: the jury was impressed by the work of a 10-year-old researcher from Kaiserslautern. She impressed the judges with her project “Dyeing with algae”, in which she used natural dyes from green and blue-green algae to dye a T-shirt. She proved her environmentally friendly dyeing method by carefully isolating the pigments and testing their resistance to washing.

Our commitment went beyond the awarding of prizes: Beate Kosbar and Dr. Maximilian Weber, both working in research and development at FUCHS LUBRICANTS GERMANY, were part of the expert jury for the chemistry projects presented. They were very enthusiastic in their assessment of the work submitted and were impressed by the scientific standard of the projects. Their conclusion: They will be happy to take part in the next “Jugend forscht” competition again!
