WAGRAS ZZ 20

Die lubricant

Performance Features

  • good parting effect
  • smooth part surfaces
  • heat conductive
  • economically

Description

WAGRAS ZZ 20 is a concentrated graphite-water dispersion with good releasing and lubrication properties for hot forming of steel. It is based on selected graphites of different particle sizes. The smaller particles ensure good wetting behaviour while coarser particles provide a high thermal stability. The fine particle size distribution results in a good sedimentation stability of the concentrate.

Properties

WAGRAS ZZ 20 forms a dry, adhesive graphite layer on the tool surface after spraying. It reduces friction and therefor press force. It separates the surfaces of the parts and tools very well. Underfilling is avoided, temperature peaks are reduced. This has positive effects on the die life. Graphite is chemically inert and non-hazardous.

Application

WAGRAS ZZ 20 can be diluted in any ratio with water. The dilution should be done slowly under continous stirring until the desired dilution ratio is reached. The optimum dilution ratio depends on part geometry, weight and material type, the cycle time, contact time and complexeity of the forming operation as well as the desired cooling effect.

Standard values for dilution

simple forming operations: 6 to 12 parts of water to 1 part of WAGRAS ZZ 20
medium complex operations: 3 to 6 parts of water to 1 part of WAGRAS ZZ 20
highly complex operations with difficult geometries: 1 to 3 parts of water to 1 part of WAGRAS ZZ 20

Method of application

The finished dilution of WAGRAS ZZ 20 can be sprayed by hand spray guns, stationary or automated spraying devices. The dilution should be kept in motion by stirring or pumping at all times to avoid sedimentation. Before longer downtimes, flushing the lines with water is recommended.
