FUCHS "Dual-Engine Technology" Makes a Grand Debut at EESA 2025

14.08.2025 - 09:33

On August 13, at EESA 2025 (Electric Engineering Era Special Forum) held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, FUCHS China made the themed report "Dual-Engine Technology Opens a 'Calm' New Era of Immersed Energy Storage", and simultaneously showcased the patented MEi® and FUCHS BluEV Fire Shield comprehensive safety solution.

Representatives from core industrial chain partners such as State Grid, Huaneng, Huawei, Eve Energy, and Shandong Electrical Engineering Contemporary Energy Technology jointly witnessed FUCHS' latest breakthroughs in the field of immersed energy storage thermal management and safety protection.

From "Passive Fire Protection" to "Active Immunity"

Traditional energy storage safety approaches mostly focus on post-event suppression, covering fire detection, gas fire extinguishing, smoke exhaust and explosion venting. However, FUCHS adheres to the concept that true safety protection should be advanced to the millisecond window period "before thermal runaway occurs". Through the synergistic effect of fluid thermal management and physical heat insulation, the risks at the cell level can be completely eliminated. FUCHS "Dual-Engine Technology" is a systematic solution developed under the guidance of this concept:

  • The highly adaptable immersion coolant developed by FUCHS can continuously perform "accompanying" heat conduction and temperature control throughout the entire life cycle of the battery, effectively suppressing heat accumulation
  • The thin, light yet tough flexible heat insulation film produced by FUCHS, like an "invisible firewall", can block any potential heat spread paths

These two technologies together form an "active immunity" closed loop, promoting the safety protection mode of energy storage systems from "bandaging after injury" to "prevention before injury".

Addressing Unknown Risks with Molecular Engineering

Energy storage application scenarios are complex and diverse, including various extreme environments such as desert heat, high humidity at sea, mine dust, and low air pressure on plateaus. Any extreme variable may become the "last straw" that triggers thermal runaway. Relying on a century of lubrication expertises, FUCHS incorporates "unknown factors" into R&D assumptions. Through molecular-level structural design and functional group grafting, the coolant is endowed with the ability to "adapt" to the environment: no matter how the external conditions change, the fluid can always maintain "resonance" with the cells, modules, and pipelines, leaving no room for risks to take advantage.

Safety is not the "unique skill" of a single enterprise, but should be a "public infrastructure" built by the entire industry through joint efforts. FUCHS is willing to share its experience without reservation, and work with all peers to integrate the concept of "calmness" into the genes of every energy storage power station, making safety a perceptible "product"!
