Throughout the full lifecycle of medical equipment R&D, production, and maintenance, the performance of lubricated components directly affects operational stability and the safety of medical procedures. Issues such as friction and wear, operating noise, seal failure, and contact oxidation not only shorten equipment service life, but also interfere with core tasks such as diagnosis, drug delivery, and surgery.
FUCHS NYEMED® series is manufactured in strict compliance with the ISO 13485 medical device quality management system, equipped with an ISO 14644-17 cleanroom, and all products have passed the ISO 10993 series of biocompatibility tests. They are non-cytotoxic and have extremely low skin irritation. At the same time, they can withstand mainstream sterilization methods such as gamma radiation, ethylene oxide, and steam autoclaving. Their performance remains stable even after repeated disinfection, fully meeting the safety and compliance requirements of the medical industry.

I. Four Core Selection Criteria for Medical Lubrication
Biocompatibility: For components that directly or indirectly contact the human body, lubricants that have passed the full set of biocompatibility tests must be selected. All FUCHS NYEMED® products can meet the requirements for components in human-contact applications.
Sterilization resistance: Medical equipment requires frequent disinfection. All FUCHS NYEMED® products have undergone specialized sterilization testing, and indicators such as viscosity, evaporation rate, and oil separation rate will not show significant degradation.
Operating-condition compatibility: The appropriate viscosity and type of lubricant should be selected according to the operating temperature, speed, and motion mode of different equipment components.
Material compatibility: Medical equipment contains a variety of materials, including plastics, elastomers, metals, and electronic contacts. All FUCHS NYEMED® products have undergone compatibility testing and can prevent components from being corroded or aged by lubricants.
II. Damping and moving components in drug delivery devices
Drug delivery devices such as auto-injectors, insulin pens, inhalers, and infusion pumps rely on damping mechanisms to control pushing speed, requiring lubricants with stable viscous resistance.
NYEMED® 7325 and NYEMED® 7328, two silicone-based products, are common choices for this scenario. Both have flash points above 300°C and deliver excellent oil separation and evaporation performance, enabling smooth mechanical movement, eliminating impact and jamming, and improving the user experience. Among them, NYEMED® 7328 has a higher viscosity and is primarily intended for precision damping control. In addition, the high-viscosity synthetic hydrocarbon product NYEMED® 7364 can achieve both damping and sealing effects and can also be used as a temporary adhesive.

3. Bearings, gears, and sliding components
Bearings and gears in electric surgical tools, medical robots, linear positioning devices, and similar equipment primarily require wear reduction, corrosion resistance, and noise reduction.
For high-speed precision bearings, the polyol ester NYEMED® 7492 is recommended, as it offers outstanding high-speed wear resistance and is suitable for metal high-speed friction conditions.
For gears with noise reduction requirements, the synthetic hydrocarbon product NYEMED® 7630 is recommended. It is resistant to high temperatures, not prone to volatilization, and can effectively protect gears and sliding metal components, reducing operating noise. It is suitable for reduction motors and ordinary sliding assemblies.

3. Electronic connectors and contacts
Medical equipment contains a large number of electronic connectors and switches, which are susceptible to dust, moisture, and corrosive reagents.
NYEMED® 7560 can protect electrical contacts and reduce insertion and extraction force for connectors, offering strong versatility. The perfluoropolyether-based NYEMED® 7571 has stable chemical properties and good insulation performance, making it suitable for electronic components with high corrosion-resistance requirements.
4. Seals, O-rings, and elastomers
For elastomers, seals, and O-rings, the low-viscosity silicone oil NYEMED® 7605 offers excellent compatibility and provides lubrication while helping enhance sealing performance. If the component is in long-term contact with medicinal liquids or chemical reagents, the perfluoropolyether lubricant NYEMED® 7471 can be selected. It has strong chemical inertness, is not easily dissolved or eroded by media, and offers higher operational safety.
