REACH – Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals
FUCHS LUBRICANTS SWEDEN AB, there the blending plant in the Nordic countries is located, is a downstream blender and does not manufacture any chemical components. This means that our suppliers have registered the substances contained in our products.
FUCHS LUBRICANTS SWEDEN AB do not register any substances/components or products for our Nordic countries (Denmark/Finland/Norway/Sweden).
We have a continuous surveillance of how REACH progresses among our suppliers and will inform our customers if there will be any inconveniences due to REACH.
We intentionally avoid using SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) in our products. The vast majority of our products do not contain any SVHC components or components present on the Candidate list. But if a product contains a SVHC component or a component that is present in the Candidate list, it is declared in the safety data sheet.
NB: Decisions about our product portfolio depends on many various factors, of with REACH is just one.
RoHS
We hereby certify that none of our products contain the substances mentioned in directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS)
.
Conflict minerals
Conflict minerals are not intentionally added in the products produced in our production plant in Västerhaninge.
National Product Registers
We hereby certify that we follow Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish national legislation regarding product Registration at the national Chemical Authorities.

Safety Data Sheet information letter
What is an SDS?
SDS is a Safety Data Sheet. This type of legally demanded document contains information regarding the possible product risks and risk reducing measures.
When shall the customer receive an SDS?
Our customer shall receive our SDS automatically upon first time buying, when the SDS has an update, and yearly upon continuous supply.
What to do if the customer does not receive any SDS?
Please make sure you have received one or several e-mail address(es) to the customers preferred SDS receiver(s). Make sure that FUCHS Customer Service has entered the e-mail address(es) into the field for automatic e-mailing in the Customer Master in SAP.
Is version date of SDS important?
Yes. If the customer has old stock of product, the labelling maybe doesn’t match the classification in the latest version of SDS. Then the customer needs to refer to the version of SDS that was valid at production date of the stocked product. If they do not have the old version of SDS on hand they need to contact FUCHS.
Our customer receives our SDS automatically upon first time buying, when the SDS has an update, and yearly upon continuous supply.
Most often asked about content in SDS:
Section 1:
-Contains UFI code (UFI= Unique Formula Identifier).
Section 2:
- The products total classification is found here. It can be based on calculations or test data (if present information is found in section 11).
- Labelling info can be found in section 2 and on the product label.
Section 3:
- Substances affecting the product’s classification are listed in the table.
- Please note that these substances are shown with their own classification. Those classifications can be significantly different compared with product classification.
- Mineral oils presented in section 3, share the EINECS numbers with cancer classified mineral oil. As the mineral oils do not contain high amounts of aromatics the exceptions called Nota N and Nota L are applicable. In our safety data sheets this text shows below the table:
Please note that the mineral oils and petroleum distillates used in our products are severely refined and have a DMSO extract <3% as measured by IP 346 and are not classified as carcinogen according to Nota N / Nota L of Annex VI of Regulation EC 1272/2008.
-Aerosols containing propane/butane as propellant do not contain butadiene in concentrations above 0,1% and is NOT cancerogenic/mutagenic.
Section 8:
Information regarding OEL values relevant for the actual product are shown here. Observe that mineral oil doesn’t have an OEL value, but mineral oil mist has. This mist value is shown in this section due to the fact that some of our customer produces oil mist in their applications. So, we show this as a service to our customers. We do not sell mineral oil mist.
If the product only contains substances (esters, PAOs etc) that do not have OEL values this section will be empty.
Section 9:
In this section typical data for the product is shown, e.g. flashpoint, density, colour, viscosity etc.
Section 13:
Recommendations regarding waste handling are shown in this section. The shown European Waste Code (EWC) shall be seen as a suggestion. It is the customers handling of the product during their use that defines which waste code that shall be used.
Section 14:
In this section transport regulations, if applicable, are given.
Section 15:
Information regarding micro plastics is given in section 15.
Section 16:
Section 16 explains the abbreviations used in all other sections in the SDS. Not to be mistaken for product classification.
System design (total loss, open, closed or combined):
It is always the customer’s responsibility to perform the risk assessments for their systems/applications and the product(s), as they are the ones that knows their systems/applications the very best. The SDS shall be seen as a primary source of information for the customers regarding the product.
Can aspiration hazard occur?
The aspiration hazard, induced following an accidental ingestion, is primarily linked to products based on low viscosity hydrocarbon base oils with a viscosity (< 20.5 cSt at 40 °C).
This risk may arise in case of ingesting low viscosity hydrocarbons and afterwards vomiting and products ends up in airways and lungs. This might cause chemical pneumonia which is a sever condition.
Low viscosity hydrocarbon-based products are classified with H304 (May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways) and marked with pictogram GHS08.
Products with a H304 hazard statement can be used safely when the risk management measures are respected.
Substitution of unwanted substances:
We closely monitor legislation changes affecting our products and work actively and continuously to substitute unwanted substances in our products. Keeping your SDS libraries up to date is a good idea.
