LUBRODAL F 318

Graphite-free, water-miscible die lubricant

Performance Features

  • creates a transparent whitish film on the tools
  • high wetting temperatures
  • reduces friction and therefore operating power
  • no build-up in dies
  • prevents flaws and improves work-piece surfaces
  • increases die operating life
  • reduces temperature peaks on the die
  • does not contain corrosive ingredients
  • presents no health risks to operators, and does not damage machinery

Description

LUBRODAL F 318 is an effective, graphite-free, water miscible lubricant/release agent for dies and tools used in hot metalworking processes. LUBRODAL F 318 is supplied as a concentrate which must be thinned with tap water before use.

Method of application

LUBRODAL F 318, when used in the correct concenration, is a cost-effective die lubricant. The optimum proportions of lubricant to water should be determined in test runs.
The dilution ratio depends on:

  • the shape, weight and material of the work pieces
  • the forging cycle, contact time and the difficulty of the operation
  • the required cooling effect

Guidelines for dilution:

  • complicated pieces or difficult operations: 2 - 5 parts water, 1 part LUBRODAL F 318
  • standard forging operations: 5 - 15 parts water, 1 part LUBRODAL F 318
  • simple parts and high unit weights: 15 - 30 parts water, 1 part LUBRODAL F 318

Application

LUBRODAL F 318 can be applied using hand spray guns, static and automatic spraying equipment. To achieve an effective, even coverage, use a spray with an adjustable nozzle and adjust the air-liquid ratio. LUBRODAL F 318 is graphite-free and therefore does not leave graphite deposits which are often the cause of breakdowns in spraying equipment. This greatly reduces the amount of maintenance required for spraying equipment.
