VITROLIS NRL 46
Neck Ring Lubricant
Advantages/Benefits
- Low viscosity compared to conventional swabbing compounds allows for more uniform / even coatings to be applied
- Excellent wetting and film strength properties ensure good release from the blank
- Lower levels of carryover of graphite and carbonaceous material from the mould to the container neck reduces the incidence of neck ring faults and rejects
Description
VITROLIS NRL 46 is a light to medium viscosity lubricant and release agent especially designed for lubrication of neck rings in the glass container forming process.
It is primarily designed for production utilising the NNPB process but may also be used on blow/blow and press/blow operations by applying a slightly lighter film than normal.
The formulation is based on a combination of colloidal graphite, sulphur based compounds and film forming/wetting agents.
Being colloidal in particle size, it enables stable formulations to be produced in low viscosity base fluids. This in turn allows for the application of a lighter and more even lubricant film – thus reducing the build up of carbonaceous material on the neck ring and transfer of these residues onto the neck of the formed container.
Mixing Instructions
VITROLIS NRL 46 is supplied in a ready to use form and does not normally require dilution. However, in the event that the residual film produced is regarded as slightly too heavy then the product can be cut back with a lower viscosity mineral oil, for example hydraulic oil.
Storage
Drums should be stored on their sides in a clean, dry place and should be protected from extremes of temperature.
