AdBlue® is a harmless synthetic solution used to reduce exhaust emissions in heavy-duty and some light vehicles equipped with Euro 4*, Euro 5**, and Euro 6*** diesel engines, utilizing EGR1, DPF2, and SCR3 technologies. It is important to note that AdBlue® is not a diesel additive. Instead, it is stored in a separate tank and dispensed independently. Before the catalytic converter (or inverter), AdBlue® is chemically converted into ammonia, which then breaks down harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the SCR catalytic converter, converting them into nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O) —natural components of air that we breathe. AdBlue® consumption is approximately 5% of diesel fuel per 100 km.
