Going belt and braces
The move from Nynäshamn to Fors and start-up of the new lubricant plant is not only a big deal for us at FUCHS, but also for many of our customers. Per Norgren is Head Project Manager for works on the new plant.
We know that some customers might be concerned about mid-term planning, and that such a major change can lead to disruptions. We are, however, well prepared, and our meticulous planning means we’re going belt and braces. For us it’s important that our customers not only are assured, but also feel assured at this time. That’s why it’s nice for me, as Project Manager, to be able to reassure customers that we’re on top of things, and that we’re well on schedule.

After several years of comprehensive planning and preparation, we are now approaching the final phase of actual construction, start-up of our brand new production lines and relocation of important equipment. At the time of writing we’re in the final phase of installation, we have been building up our stock since January, and we have recently embarked on a phase which includes ten weeks of intensive testing and verification. There’s a lot to ascertain before and during the move, as well as after. The main relocation will take place around Midsummer in late June, as that’s a time when few of our customers are working, so we reduce the risk of negative impact. And that’s not far away now.
As we now approach the planned opening in September, we feel tremendously proud of the plant and are getting ready to start up our modernised operation there. We expect the first live production to take place in July.
As someone who’s in the middle of it all, knowing that we have a project team with a lot of skill and experience from complex projects – as well as an amazing ability to turn problems into opportunities and create solutions – this a very exciting, positive time.
