Low pH Cleaning Solution
Description
ACID CLEANER 5557 is a liquid acid cleaner used to remove rust and soils from steel, aluminum and soft metals prior to subsequent processing. This product contains non-volatile acids, hard water and iron sequestrates, surfactants, and co-solvents. Special inhibitors allow for safe removal of oxides without attack of the base metal. This product may also be used to remove oil from aluminum and other soft metals surfaces while leaving a bright and spot free surface. This product is completely soluble and is easily neutralized for convenient waste disposal. It is excellent for ferrous metals.
Application
ACID CLEANER 5557 is typically used between 5% - 25% by volume in the temperature range of 120° - 160°F. Time and temperature depend on soil type and surfaces being cleaned. Gloves and safety glasses are recommended when handling products such as this one. Refer to SDS for more information.
Fluid Management
Control of a working bath is easily determined by titrating a 10mL sample of the bath with bromophenol blue to the appropriate endpoint. The recommended titrant is 1.0N sodium hydroxide.

Storage Conditions
If sealed in the original container ACID CLEANER 5557 can be stored at temperatures between -20° to + 40°C for 36 months.
The indication of a minimum period of storage does not include any guarantee of durability.
