Description
GLEITMO SIL MP 50S is a lubricating paste that is formulated with silicone base oil and contains over 50 percent finely divided molybdenum disulfide power. GLEITMO SIL MP 50S has an extremely wide service temperature of - 50°F to 450°F (-45°C to 232°C) in the paste form and up to 750°F (399°C) for the solids. This non-melting paste exhibits low friction and anti-wear properties under extremely high load situations. GLEITMO SIL MP 50S resists oxidation and water washout, providing protection against fretting corrosion. Since GLEITMO SIL MP 50S contains a high percentage of MoS2 it has the ability to carry extreme loads. It can provide lubrication up to pressures of 500,000 psi and has very good Four Ball Weld-load results.
Field of application
Recommended as a running-in lubricant and assembly paste for gears, cams, splines, journal bearings, O rings, seals, bushings and other sliding mechanisms subject to extreme operating conditions. It is ideally suited for critical applications like shims, pads and other brake mechanisms and clutch assemblies requiring long service life under harsh conditions. It is also effective under stick-slip conditions and is widely used as an anti-seize and corrosion preventative for threaded connections. It can be used to reduce torque in tightening and reduce thread damage. Compatible with most rubbers and plastics, except for silicone rubber.
Method of application
Applied by automatic dispensing systems or by brushing or wiping. For best results, the paste should be burnished into a clean, dry surface by hand using a brush or cloth. GLEITMO SIL MP 50S has a shelf life of two years when stored in a sealed container at 75°F. Shelf life can be extended, but material should be checked for consistency before use. The oil has a propensity to separate due to the high percentage of solids, which can be easily mixed back into the paste with a spatula or mixer with no effect on performance.
