Thrills & Spills for Power Maxed Racing at Thruxton
An excellent qualifying session saw PMR get their best starts of the 2022 campaign at Thruxton – Ash Hand secured P6 and Michael Crees just behind in P7.
With lights out the action frantically unfolded with both Ash and Creesy having to avoid incidents - coming out relatively unscathed. Ash eventually crossed the line in an incredible, best finish, 5th position, with Michael Crees in a very respectable 8th position. This also gave Ash his first Independent Driver Win.
Ash’s luck unfortunately ran out in race two as a head gasket failure brought an end to his race. Michael battled hard to finish 9th.
After an epic effort by the Power Maxed Racing crew with a full engine change in just under 2.5 hours on the #97 car of Ash Hand they headed out to race 3 with the #777 car of Michael Crees having been drawn to start P3 on the grid.
Unfortunately, after a poor start Creesy dropped down the order, after some jostling in the first few corners he ended up in p9 but recovered to a p8 finish.
Ash fought hard from his start position at the back of the grid, due to his engine failure in race 2, still managed to record the fastest lap of the race before eventual winner Josh Cook took the accolade late on. He ended the race p17, narrowly missing out on a points finish after a final lap incident with Adam Morgan as Morgan slowed, unusually, on the exit of Church. Ash had nowhere to go other than in to the back of the BMW.
ASH HAND: “A great weekend in terms of speed and personal performance, we just need to carry that on to the end of the season now and keep building on what we have. This, our best result so far will become one of many good results that come from our last 9 races.”

Team testimonials.
“A quality team with quality bikes needs a quality product”
Paul Bird, PBM Team Owner
“The GT40 has once again been running a full FUCHS package and has performed faultlessly with no DNF’s or technical issues. Over the last two years, FUCHS products had improved the cars performance and reliability.”
Lee Bowd, JDM Racing Chief Mechanic
“The reliability of the engine has been great and FUCHS have given me an oil that I can rely on. The performances in the latter part of the season have been due to my confidence in the car meaning I can push harder into each corner without worrying about the engine.”
Owen Loydall, Autograss Driver
"This year we have made major improvements to our race car including a new high spec engine, something that’s been in development over the past few years. After extensive testing there is only one oil we would trust with this.... FUCHS TITAN. Having used the Fuchs engine oil, CV Grease and gearbox oil for the last 6 years, we wouldn’t use anything else."
